The Republic of Moldova aims to open all remaining negotiation chapters by the end of the year, President Maia Sandu said today during a telephone conversation with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin. Ireland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union until December 31. The discussion took place just days before the European Council meeting scheduled for October 15–16, whose agenda includes EU enlargement, TRIBUNA reports.
The two officials also discussed bilateral relations, including the social security agreement that will guarantee pension rights for Moldovan citizens who have worked in Ireland.
Another topic was the European Political Community Summit, which Ireland will host in Dublin on November 12. The summit will bring together leaders from across Europe to discuss the continent’s security and stability.
