The Commission for the Award of the National Prize, chaired by Minister of Culture Dan Suruceanu, met to select the candidates for the 2026 National Prize. A total of 25 applications were submitted this year, covering fields such as culture and art, science, literature, cinematography, medicine, and sports, TRIBUNA reports.
Minister Dan Suruceanu emphasized that the National Prize is a form of recognition for people whose work and achievements make an important contribution to the fields in which they operate.
The commission consists of 17 members. The candidates were selected by secret ballot, based on the submitted applications. Following the vote, seven individuals were selected.
The list of laureates is to be approved by the Government. Details regarding the award ceremony will be announced subsequently.
The National Prize is awarded annually by the Government for outstanding performances and achievements that contribute to the country’s development and promote the image of the Republic of Moldova. The prize consists of a diploma, a medal, and a financial award of 100,000 lei.
