Sergey Anastasov, mayor of Comrat and currently serving his third term, announced today that he has decided to run as an independent candidate for Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia in the elections scheduled for November 15, TRIBUNA reports.

“I did not come to Gagauzia for the elections. I was born here, I live here, and I will live here, and every day I deal with the problems faced by citizens,” he said.

Sergey Anastasov said he wants to work with authorities at all levels and with external partners to address the problems facing Gagauzia and promote the region’s development.

“We need to develop our villages and towns, support businesses, and create conditions for new businesses and new jobs,” the mayor said.
