At the invitation of Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi attended the inauguration of the Council of Europe’s Permanent Observer Office to the United Nations in New York, TRIBUNA reports.

According to him, the opening of the Office marks an important step in strengthening the Council of Europe’s presence and commitment within the UN and contributes to developing dialogue with non-member states and other international organizations. The new structure will support joint efforts to strengthen multilateralism and promote the organization’s values globally.

The event also provided an opportunity to reaffirm cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe, particularly in implementing democratic reforms, including through the Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova for 2025–2028, as well as in making use of the organization’s expertise in support of the country’s European path.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi welcomed the opening of the Council of Europe’s Permanent Observer Office in New York and expressed confidence that it will contribute to effective cooperation between the organizations for the benefit of member states.
