The Socialist faction will not support the declaration of a state of emergency, TRIBUNA reports.

“We believe that the Government is using this state of emergency to conclude secret contracts and implement non-transparent schemes. None of the prime ministers has so far presented us with a report on how money was spent during the periods when states of emergency were declared. In addition, the authorities prohibit the organization of protests during a state of emergency. Therefore, the purpose is once again to make secret procurements and suppress citizens’ discontent,” said Igor Dodon, leader of the Socialists.

According to him, the situation is complicated, but instead of declaring a state of emergency, three urgent measures should be taken:

1. Review budget priorities and redirect funds toward compensation.
2. Abandon increases in VAT and excise duties on energy resources.
3. Immediately begin negotiations with alternative energy suppliers, primarily with the Russian Federation.

“We are ready to provide support on these issues. We live in the same country and must work together to find solutions that will protect citizens and prevent the burden on the population from increasing further,” the MP added.
