Maia Sandu, in Talks with Péter Magyar, Reaffirms Moldova’s Interest in Developing Strategic Partnership with Hungary

President Maia Sandu held a phone conversation today with Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar. The two discussed bilateral relations, including economic ties, the Republic of Moldova’s European path, and regional security, TRIBUNA reports.

The President reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova’s interest in developing its strategic partnership with Hungary, launched in 2020. The two also discussed opportunities to expand trade and investment.

Regarding Moldova’s accession to the European Union, President Sandu thanked Hungary for its support for the country’s European path and reiterated her commitment to reforms, state modernization, and alignment with European standards.

The discussion also focused on the regional security situation, which has been affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine. The two agreed to continue their high-level dialogue.
