Trade union members and employees in the education and science sectors held a protest yesterday in Chișinău’s Great National Assembly Square. The Federation of Education and Science Trade Unions stated that yesterday’s protest is not the final step and that it does not intend to abandon its demand for higher salaries, TRIBUNA reports.
Following the protest, at 12:00 p.m. yesterday, trade union leaders met with Minister Dan Perciun at the Trade Union House to discuss the outcome of the action and the current situation.
“The conclusion of the meeting is clear: the Federation of Education and Science Trade Unions is not giving up its demand for salary increases and will continue to defend the lawful rights and interests of employees in the education and science sectors.
The protest is not a final point, but rather a clear signal to the authorities that education and science employees expect the commitments made to be fulfilled and concrete decisions to be taken to increase salaries in the system.
The proposals put forward by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan during the protest, as well as at the press conference, will be considered by primary trade union organizations, after which trade union members will decide on the next steps,” the Federation said.
