Liberal Party Supports Teachers’ Demands for Decent Salaries and Fulfillment of Authorities’ Promises

The Liberal Party (PL) expresses its full solidarity with teachers and education professionals who took to the streets in protest on August 19, calling for the fulfillment of commitments regarding salary increases and decent working conditions, TRIBUNA reports.

According to the party, education is the foundation of a modern and prosperous society. Teachers are the ones who shape future generations, and a lack of respect for their work means a lack of respect for our future.

The Liberal Party supports teachers’ demands for decent salaries, better working conditions and the fulfillment of promises made by the authorities.

At the same time, the Liberal Party condemns the delays and unfulfilled promises of the government, which have led to dissatisfaction and the mobilization of teaching staff. The party also calls for transparency and accountability from the authorities: teachers cannot be deceived with electoral promises but must be supported through concrete action.

“The Republic of Moldova is going through a difficult period, marked by an economic crisis and continuously rising prices for goods and services. Under these circumstances, increasing teachers’ salaries is no longer merely a legitimate demand, but an urgent necessity.

Teachers cannot survive on frozen salaries while the cost of living rises from month to month. Without an urgent adjustment of incomes, teachers risk being pushed into poverty, while the education system could face an exodus of specialists.

The Liberal Party will continue to stand alongside teachers and support initiatives aimed at improving the status of teaching staff. Teachers’ salaries must reflect the level of their work and responsibility, while education must become a genuine priority for the state, not merely a slogan,” the party’s statement also says.
