According to data provided by the State Tax Service, during the first half of 2026, 23,029 people residing in the Transnistrian region were officially registered as employees on the right bank of the Dniester. Of these, 57.28% were men (13,190 people) and 42.72% were women (9,839 people), representing a 66.8% increase compared with the same period last year, when 13,810 people were registered, TRIBUNA reports, citing the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.

The geographical distribution shows a major concentration in Chisinau, where more than 72% of all employees work. Most come from the cities of Bender (28.5%), Tiraspol (13.9%), Rîbnița (12%), Dubăsari (8.95%), and Grigoriopol (4%).

In terms of professional preferences, the main sectors attracting workers from the region are:

• Trade: retail trade, particularly non-specialized food stores, and wholesale trade in construction materials.
• Manufacturing and industry: production of electrical/electronic wiring, clothing and furniture.
• Construction and transport: road freight transport and building construction.
• Public sector and services: general secondary education, healthcare services (hospital care), public administration, public order and civil protection, IT (software development), the HoReCa sector (restaurants), and automotive services.

“This upward trend confirms the ongoing and stable process of socio-economic integration of residents of the Transnistrian region into the labor market of the Republic of Moldova.

Legal employment provides citizens from the left bank of the Dniester and the municipality of Bender with essential social guarantees: a safe working environment, access to paid leave, legal protection and competitive incomes.

Through their work in essential sectors and payment of the corresponding contributions, they support the sustainability of the national budget and contribute to the country’s economic growth,” the Bureau emphasized.
