MP Mihail Druță participates in the Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly

Mihail Druță, Member of Parliament and member of the Committee on Foreign Policy, took part in the Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA). The meeting was held from 29 May to 1 June in Vilnius and was hosted by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, TRIBUNA reports.

The session brought together more than 230 parliamentarians from NATO PA member states and partner countries. The main topics discussed included strengthening collective defence, supporting Ukraine, and increasing resilience to hybrid threats. Participants also examined ways to protect strategic resources through higher defence investments, developing partnerships in strategically important regions, and promoting innovation and critical technologies in the security and defence sectors.

On the first day, officials attended meetings of the NATO PA political groups and committees, followed by the Assembly’s plenary sitting. At the end of the debates, parliamentarians adopted a joint declaration in support of a stronger and more resilient transatlantic Alliance. The document states that the Russian Federation continues to pose a direct, strategic, and long‑term threat to Euro‑Atlantic security — through its war of aggression against Ukraine and through destabilizing actions targeting Allies.

The declaration also highlights the need to strengthen the defence industrial and technological base of the Allies, enabling them to innovate, adapt, and respond more rapidly to security challenges. In addition, the Assembly reaffirms its commitment to enhancing resilience as a core element of collective defence and to increasing investment in parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen strategic convergence among Allies, the transatlantic bond, mutual trust, and cooperation.

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is an interparliamentary organization bringing together legislators from the 32 member states of the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as from associate countries. The Republic of Moldova has been an associate member of the NATO PA since November 1994.

The NATO PA meets twice a year: at the Spring Session and at the Annual Session, usually held in autumn. This year’s Annual Session will take place in Berlin from 20 to 23 November.
