President Maia Sandu of the Republic of Moldova participated on Friday, 17 April, in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum at the invitation of Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The event brought together political leaders, diplomats, and international experts for dialogue on regional and global challenges.
During the forum, President Sandu held talks with President Erdoğan, focusing on expanding access for Moldovan products on the Turkish market, attracting new investments, and deepening cooperation in the security sector. Turkey is Moldova’s second‑largest export destination after Romania and the fourth‑largest investor in the Moldovan economy, following Romania, Germany, and France. The discussion also addressed the situation in Gagauzia, including the protection of the Gagauz language and culture and joint support for the region’s development.
President Sandu also met with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, Slovenia’s President Nataša Pirc Musar, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency member Denis Bećirović. Talks focused on strengthening bilateral partnerships, economic cooperation — including in the energy sector — and facilitating access for Moldovan goods to external markets.
The President reaffirmed Moldova’s firm commitment to advancing on its European path and building strong international partnerships for the benefit of its citizens.
