Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu met with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Parviz Shahbazov, on the sidelines of the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the natural gas sector, developments in regional demand, and opportunities for collaboration in the context of the ongoing liberalization of Moldova’s gas market, TRIBUNA reports.
In the context of the recalibration of European gas markets, both sides highlighted the essential role of scalable infrastructure, regulatory coordination, and regional partnerships in ensuring long‑term supply security.
Minister Junghietu emphasized the importance of pragmatic policies that support the development of new projects in the gas sector while advancing the energy transition. He invited Azerbaijani companies to participate in the new tender for the construction of large wind parks totaling 170 MW, including the integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), as part of efforts to increase the flexibility and resilience of the national energy system.
