Speaker of Parliament in Șoldănești: “We cannot quickly repair everything that was destroyed over many years”

The Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, paid a working visit to Șoldănești district. The head of the legislature visited projects implemented in the region and discussed with representatives of local public authorities about plans for the coming years, TRIBUNA reports.

In Șoldănești district alone, around 160 million lei have been invested through the “European Village” programs. An additional 34 million lei have been invested in the healthcare system. This year, the authorities have allocated 10 million lei for the construction of local roads.

“We know that these investments do not always change people’s lives immediately. We cannot quickly repair everything that was destroyed over many years. We still have many roads to build, many schools and kindergartens to renovate, and many services to bring closer to citizens. We will do all of this gradually, with the support of our partners, because Moldova is developing already today, not only when it becomes a European state,” stated the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, during discussions with mayors and representatives of deconcentrated public services.

Igor Grosu also visited the “Andrieș” kindergarten in Șoldănești, modernized through the “European Village” Program — the water and sewage systems were fully renovated. Additionally, with their own resources, the staff arranged a space to care for children with special needs. “The ‘Andrieș’ kindergarten in the town of Șoldănești is one of 150 kindergartens in the country that have undergone transformations in recent years. Now, the kindergarten administration aims to open a nursery group, with the support of the Government,” the Speaker noted.

A multifunctional stadium will also be built in Șoldănești, for which 20 million lei have been allocated. The complex will include a football field, running tracks, stands, and infrastructure for various sports disciplines. “Since 2021, investments in sports have increased by 80%. We have renovated 133 sports halls and fields across the country, and we will continue in the coming years. Children and adults must have sports infrastructure close to them, in every village and town,” the Speaker reiterated.

The Speaker of Parliament also visited the community center in Cobîlea, where the surrounding area was arranged with the support of the Government. Elderly residents spend their free time at the community center, where they socialize, sing, cook, and exercise together. The Speaker spoke with the elderly beneficiaries, who appreciated that thanks to the “European Village” Program they now have running water, and noted that sewage infrastructure is still needed. “Another problem is the access road to the village. This year we allocated funds for the construction of around 200 local roads, and I hope we will manage to build the road here as well. With patience, we will rebuild our country, village by village,” said Igor Grosu.

Development partners are also investing in Șoldănești district. For example, the Vadul‑Rașcov road was renovated with the support of the European Union, which allocated 30 million lei. “There are still many roads to repair, we know. So far, we have renovated or built almost 800 km of roads. We have the ambitious goal of repairing 3,000 kilometers of roads by 2029, so that all national and regional roads are in good condition. With EU funding, we will achieve this goal,” stated the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu.
