As President of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi delivered a speech during the plenary of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) winter session, held in Strasbourg, TRIBUNA reports.
In his address, the official highlighted key aspects regarding the role and positioning of the Council of Europe in the current European and international context. He emphasized the importance of the organization and the need for its continuous adaptation to new geopolitical realities and emerging hybrid threats.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi presented the priorities of the Republic of Moldova’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers, which focus on strengthening the system of the European Convention on Human Rights, promoting children’s rights, maintaining consistent support for Ukraine, and combating disinformation. He also underlined the importance of respecting international law and the role of multilateral cooperation in a European and global security environment marked by major challenges.
“Today, the mission of the Council of Europe to protect human rights, democracy, and the rule of law is more important than ever. Under the motto ‘For a Europe of peace and resilience’, the Republic of Moldova aims to contribute to strengthening the organization’s fundamental values and enhancing its capacity to respond effectively to current challenges,” Mihai Popșoi stated.
