In the context of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, carried out between December 4–17, 2025, the closing meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance, where Minister Andrian Gavriliță met with the IMF mission team led by Alina Iancu. The discussions focused on the reform priorities of the Ministry of Finance and the macroeconomic outlook of the Republic of Moldova. State secretaries and representatives of specialized subdivisions of the ministry also attended the meeting.
The talks concentrated on assessing economic prospects and key macroeconomic risks, as well as strengthening the framework of fiscal and budgetary policies. Progress was highlighted in implementing structural reforms and maintaining fiscal discipline, while supporting economic growth and investment.
The Minister of Finance presented the ministry’s reform agenda, emphasizing the continuation of tax reform, the efficiency of public spending and capital investments, the consolidation of public finance management, and keeping the budget deficit within sustainable limits. Measures to support the business environment, including small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as initiatives to modernize public administration and reform the wage system in the budgetary sector, were also addressed.
An important topic of discussion was the use of technical assistance provided by the International Monetary Fund and other development partners to accelerate reforms and align public policies with international best practices.
During the mission, IMF experts held a series of technical working meetings with Ministry of Finance teams, where economic developments and progress in implementing the reform agenda were analyzed.
