Local and legislative elections were held yesterday in the Transnistrian region. At the 246 polling stations, more than 102,655 voters turned out, representing over 26% of the approximately 395,000 registered voters, TRIBUNA reports.
According to the authorities in Tiraspol, the elections were declared valid. All 33 constituencies elected deputies to the so-called Supreme Soviet. In addition, 469 local councilors and 76 community leaders were elected.
Observers and candidate representatives were present at the polling stations. No serious violations were reported.
It should be noted that the electoral process is not recognized by the constitutional authorities of the Republic of Moldova or by the international community.
