Prime Minister: “The place of Moldovan fruits is on the shelves of stores in Europe and worldwide”

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu attended today the Fruit Business Conference in the Republic of Moldova, organized by the Moldova Fruct Association. The event brought together over 300 producers, exporters, experts, and technology providers from the country’s fruit-growing sector. Now in its 11th edition, the conference serves as a platform for dialogue, experience sharing, and commercial solutions across the entire value chain — from production to export.

The head of government highlighted that in recent years, Moldova has ranked among the top 20 global exporters of products such as plums, walnuts, cherries, apricots, rapeseed, apples, and grapes. According to the Prime Minister, this success is due to farmers who invested in modern orchards, cutting-edge technologies, and post-harvest infrastructure, as well as the opportunities offered by the European market.

“The European Union is becoming, year after year, an increasingly important market for Moldovan fruits. Our farmers have proven they can consistently deliver larger quantities at high standards. The place of Moldovan fruits is on the shelves of stores in Europe and worldwide, and the place of Moldovan farmers is among the most respected and competitive producers,” said the Prime Minister.

He further noted that the Government will continue working to ensure broader market access, develop irrigation systems, stimulate investments in processing, promote local products, and increase the competitiveness of agricultural goods: “We need you to be the leaders of this process, and we will be your trusted partner. When you make a profit, communities prosper, the budget grows, and Moldova’s name becomes synonymous with quality.”

Participants at the conference discussed export development and market diversification, current trends in fruit-growing technologies, modern solutions for quality, and measures to strengthen resilience against climate change.
