The Minister of Finance emphasized the essential role of cooperation with the EU and the continuous support provided in implementing institutional reforms

The Ministry of Finance hosted a working visit by representatives of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG ENEST) of the European Commission and the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the Republic of Moldova, dedicated to assessing the Ministry’s progress in implementing the 2025–2027 Reform Agenda, TRIBUNA reports.

At the opening of the meeting, Minister of Finance Andrian Gavriliță highlighted the crucial role of collaboration with the European Union and the consistent support received in advancing institutional reforms. He noted that the progress achieved reflects a strong partnership and constructive dialogue with the DG ENEST teams and the EU Delegation.

EU representatives reviewed the status of measures outlined in the Agenda, discussed current challenges, and identified areas requiring additional technical support. Discussions focused on priority stages, including internal control, the budgetary process, fiscal conditions, and preparation of the 2026 budget.

The technical session, led by State Secretary Ion Gumene, brought together teams from the ministry and subordinate institutions, who presented progress updates, implementation timelines, challenges, and technical assistance needs.

The EU delegation was headed by Septimiu Szabo, Deputy Head of Unit ENEST C2 at the European Commission, accompanied by representatives of DG ENEST and the EU Delegation to Moldova.

The Ministry of Finance reaffirms its commitment to advancing reforms in public finance, internal control, and taxation, strengthening economic governance and bringing Moldova closer to EU standards.
