President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, held a meeting with a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, currently on an official visit to Chișinău. The delegation was led by Committee Chair Emily Thornberry and included MPs Alex Ballinger, Uma Kumaran, and Edward Morello, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussions focused on Moldova’s democratic resilience, strengthening state institutions against disinformation and external interference, and the lessons other countries can learn from Moldova’s experience in safeguarding electoral integrity.
President Sandu emphasized the importance of close cooperation with the United Kingdom in areas such as cybersecurity, combating disinformation, and illicit financing, noting that British support has significantly contributed to enhancing the capacities of responsible institutions.
She expressed gratitude for this support and reiterated Moldova’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with the United Kingdom in order to strengthen resilience, security, and the country’s European path.
