On September 30, the Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit with the Chișinău Court of Appeal against the political party “Great Moldova,” TRIBUNA reports.
Following a notification received on September 29 from the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the Ministry is requesting a 12-month suspension of the party’s activities and the application of interim measures until a final decision is issued.
The CEC concluded that the actions of “Great Moldova” constitute serious violations of the democratic electoral process. According to information from law enforcement authorities, the party benefited from external funding originating from the Russian Federation, channeled through Promsvyazbank — an entity linked to the “Șor” group. This contravenes Moldova’s electoral financing laws, which strictly prohibit any form of foreign funding, direct or indirect.
The established connection between “Great Moldova,” Promsvyazbank, and the “Șor” group represents a case of illegal external financing. Moreover, these actions pose a threat to national security and undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
