Officers of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC), in collaboration with prosecutors from the Chișinău Municipal Prosecutor’s Office, are conducting searches today in the capital as part of a large-scale criminal case initiated on reasonable suspicion of illegal political party financing, money laundering, and aggravated electoral corruption. According to preliminary data, the investigation targets the illicit activities of a group of individuals engaged in disinformation and manipulation of public opinion for payment, in the interest of certain political entities, TRIBUNA reports.

It was found that the individuals acted in coordination, at the request of a political force, to manipulate public opinion through various surveys, for which they received payments from illicit sources. To carry out the task, the group recruited other individuals, remunerated from undeclared sources, who were tasked with collecting information through surveys on voters’ preferences for specific political parties.

The same case also documents illegal actions carried out in the lead-up to the parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025, involving the recruitment of voters and/or supporters who were allegedly promised money, goods, services, or other benefits to influence their electoral choices and support a particular political formation.

The NAC has thoroughly documented financial transactions among group members, recording the transfer of money in various currencies. The individuals targeted in today’s actions will be investigated while at liberty. The criminal investigation continues to fully document the case and establish all circumstances.

Every person is presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
