Adrian Bălutel, the representative of Maia Sandu – the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party for the position of President, came up with some clarifications regarding the progress of the discussions for the preparation of the debate between the candidates, informs TRIBUNA. 

“We proposed Thursday this week to offer this discussion to the citizens as quickly as possible. The day of the debate is still being discussed – however, we propose that it be sooner, at least on Friday, so that the candidates have time to go to the districts during the weekend. Our team proposed the studio of the national television, the opponent’s team refused and proposed a platform outside the televisions. We accepted. Our team proposed an independent moderator, an expert agreed upon by everyone in civil society. Their team proposed 2 moderators, we accept one, and two, and three – this is not essential, the debate matters, not who the moderators are. Their team proposed a journalist from Realitatea TV, we accepted. Then they changed their minds and proposed that Gheorghe Gonța be the moderator,” he said.

Adrian Bălutel also said that they don’t think it’s right to have 2 moderators – “there are no “our” moderators and “their” moderators”.

“That’s why we accept the conditions they ask to participate. Because we believe that citizens deserve a debate as soon as possible and it is more important than the conditions in which it is organized”, he concluded.
