Natalia Gavrilița: We are firmly committed to continuing the modernization and development reforms of the country

On a working visit to Tokyo, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița had a meeting with Yoshio Sato, Chairman of the Committee on Europe of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and with Akira Shimizu, Executive Officer of Hitachi, Ltd.

The officials considered the current economic situation and the potential for the development of economic relations and the increase of Japanese investments in the country, in the context of granting the Republic of Moldova the status of an EU candidate country.

Gavrilita broached the actions taken by the authorities to overcome the crises generated by the current international context, as well as the continuous efforts to implement the reform agenda in the European integration process.

“We are firmly committed to continuing the modernization and development reforms of the country, so that as soon as possible we can initiate the negotiation process on Moldova’s accession to the EU. In this context, we focus on the growth of the national economy, creation of a framework conducive to drawing foreign investments, and deepening cooperation relations in the trade sector with Japan is one of our goals. I believe that the opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova for investments in a wide spectrum of fields, including sectors such as IT, automotive, pharmaceutical production and renewable energy will encourage and boost cooperation between our countries”, said Natalia Gavrilița.

Yoshio Sato approached the global challenges caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and noted Japan’s energy diversification efforts. Yoshio Sato expressed his consideration for the positive dynamics of the Moldovan government in achieving the desire of joining the European family, and pointed out the significant potential for bilateral development in the medium term.
