A former secretary of state was detained by the NAC and prosecutors in an influence peddling case. He allegedly demanded a bribe of 10 thousand euros for an authorization

A former official from the Ministry of Justice detained by the NAC and anti-corruption prosecutors in a case of influence peddling. He allegedly demanded a bribe of 10 000 euros from another man to help him get a certificate of authorized administer, claiming that he would have influence on some members of the specialized commission of the Union of Authorized Administrators.

According to the whistleblower, the suspect allegedly claimed from him 10 000 euros and received 6 000 euros in exchange for influencing the members of the Authorization and Discipline Commission, responsible for organizing the qualification examination for authorized administrators. He allegedly promised that he could convince the examiners to give him the highest mark, however, would not fulfill his promise.

A criminal investigation was launched, based on the complaint, during which investigations were performed to prove the fact of influence peddling. This morning, searches were carried out at the home of the suspect, but also at the office of the head of the Union of Authorized Administrators. One of the targeted persons was detained for 72 hours.

We remind, that every person is presumed to be innocent until the final and irrevocable decision of the court is pronounced.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office is conducting the criminal investigation in this case.
