World Health Organization to further support Moldova in managing epidemiological situation

Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a discussion with the representative of the United Nations Organization, Simon Springett, and the head of the official of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Chisinau, Igor Pokanevych. Attending the meeting was Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The sides discussed the measures undertaken by the Moldovan authorities for managing the epidemiological situation, preventing the spread of the infection of the COVID-19 virus, as well as the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the region and EU.

Ion Chicu thanked the UN and WHO officials for the support provided to Moldova and highly appreciated the cooperation with these organizations and the effects of the transfer of experience.

The WHO representative assured the authorities of willingness to further back Moldova in the process of management of the epidemiological situation.
