In the framework of the International Conference held in Chisinau on the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Constitutional Court, the President of Moldova, together with the Chair of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Turcan and the Head of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio, met with the chairmen of constitutional courts of 14 EU and CIS countries.
Igor Dodon welcomed the distinguished guests, thanking them for participating in the event and for their increased interest in the political processes in Moldova. In this context, the President emphasized that the situation in the country changed for the better, since we managed to overcome the political crisis in June last year, when attempts were made to use the Constitutional Court as a political tool.
“Now the Court consists of competent people who are not involved in political games, thanks to which it regained the trust of citizens and again acts as a defender of the political system from any criminal encroachments.
At the same time, I told foreign guests that the top leadership of the Republic of Moldova is open for discussion and ready to discuss possible changes to the current legislation of our country, if necessary,” said the Head of the republic.
