We-Azerbaijanis living in foreign countries are deeply saddened by the death of innocent civilians as a result of the next provocation of the Armenian Armed Forces occupying Azerbaijani territories.
As the result of attacking of the Alkhanli village of Fizuli region of Azerbaijan by armed forces of Armenia with 82 and 120 mm mortars and heavy grenade launchers Guliyeva Sahiba Idris gizi (born in 1967) and her granddaughter Guliyeva Zahra Elnur gizi (born in 2015) were killed. This tragedy once again reveals the terrorist essence of the Armenian state and how serious danger the occupation of Azerbaijani territories is for the region.
Attacks against the Azerbaijani civilian population and civilian objects by Armenian armed forces, constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian and human rights law, in particular the 1949 Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocol I thereto, the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
The Board of the Congress of Azerbaijanis of Moldova calls the world community, international organizations, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries, the United Nations to take concrete steps against the aggressor and impose harsh sanctions in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.
By killing innocent civilians Armenian army brutally violate the Geneva Convention on civilian population during the war, world’s leading countries signed this Convention, as well as the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries – the United States, France, and Russia-mediators in the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remain silent. The international community’s ignorance to Armenian atrocities opens the aggressor’s arms and the impunity of the crimes committed by them causes the Armenian Army to kill more Azerbaijani civilians.
The Head of the Congress of Azerbaijanis expresses his sorrow and anger on these hard and difficult days, convey his heartfelt condolences to the families, relatives of the victims and the entire Azerbaijani people. We specifically state that we support the steps taken by the Azerbaijani state to liberate our territories from Armenian occupation and punish the aggressor. We are convinced that the Azerbaijani state will take all necessary measures to ensure that the perpetrators of this bloody murder will be punished.
We call the world’s leading, civilized, peace-loving states, the UN, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the European Union to take decisive steps to force agressor Armenia to withdraw its armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and finally, to avoid indifference to the killing of civilians, the elderly, the women, and the infants. The only way to ensure peace, stability and peace in the region is to change the status quo, to free the Azerbaijani lands from occupation.
