Press: Kroll has conducted custom-made investigations

Journalists continue to publish the promised materials about Kroll Inc’s activities. The first article appeared in Komsomolskaya Pravda Moldovy on April 13 and revealed details about the cases which were investigated at different times and in different countries by this well-known American detective company. According to its authors, these investigations often ended with questionable results or even scandals. All the given examples were collected from open sources, i.e. previously published materials from the media around the world, they say.

The investigation continues with examples of scandalous situations involving Kroll. The authors tend to believe that the findings of Kroll’s investigations were intentionally biased and give examples that indicate that those findings were oftentimes refuted by other investigations, including those conducted by public authorities. Moreover, it is alleged that Kroll detectives used to illegally wiretap and monitor people from various countries – businessmen, public figures, court representatives and even top government officials.

The purpose of this journalistic investigation, the third and final part of which the authors promise to publish later, is to find out whether this detective company really has the capacity to identify all the circumstances, the clients and the final beneficiaries of the money that was fraudulently withdrawn from three Moldovan banks, and to recover it, which seems quite doubtful if one looks at the examples they give. Finally, the authors wonder why namely this company, the services of which will cost the Moldovan citizens many million MDL, was contracted to do it.

It should be reminded that the National Bank of Moldova contracted the American company Kroll in 2015 to conduct an independent investigation of the so-called “1 billion theft”. The contract details have not been disclosed. According to some estimates, the fee charged by Kroll for its services is between 900 thousand USD and 60% of the recovered amount of the money withdrawn from three Moldovan banks.
