President-elect Igor Dodon called upon his political opponents and the population of Moldova to be clam. He made such a call in a news conference on November 15, following protests staged by young people dissatisfied with the election outcome, IPN reports.
The leader of the Party of Socialists said the speculations that appeared on the political right and the mounted protests can lead to a wave of counter-protests. “For seven years, the pro-Moldovan, pro-statehood parties have waited for this victory. I organized 560 protests during the last four years. Don’t play with the fire. Tens and thousands of people from district call me and ask me when to come to protests. I do not want to stage protests. I call for calm. My dear supporters, don’t take to the streets until I tell you. But if I tell, don’t play with the fire,” stated Igor Dodon.
According to the Socialist, both the CEC and the parallel vote count done by the PSRM confirmed that he won the presidential elections. The election results were recognized by numerous international observers, both of the OSCE, PACE, the CIS Parliamentary Assembly and other development partners.
Igor Dodon invited the opponents of the Party “Action and Solidarity” and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” to a meeting to discuss the election outcome and the subsequent actions.
