The Party of Socialists presented a no-confidence motion to the Parliament’s Chancellery. The party’s leader Igor Dodon said this was signed by 37 Socialist, Communist and Liberal-Democratic MPs, IPN reports.

According to Igor Dodon, by the end of this week the Parliament’s Standing Bureau must decide when the MPs will come together to examine the motion.

“I’m sure that next week, on Thursday at the latest, when the ordinary sittings of Parliament are usually held, the whole Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip will have to come to Parliament to deal with this motion,” stated Igor Dodon. He voiced hope that the 37 MPs will be joined in by other colleagues.

The no-confidence motion was submitted following the assumption by the Filip Government of responsibility for seven draft laws that refer to the resolution of the banking sector problems, the Common Central Securities Depository, the issuing of state bonds, the amendment of the Law on the National Bank of Moldova and of the state budget law, social insurance budget law and mandatory health insurance funds law for this year.

A no-confidence motion is carried by a majority of votes of MP.
