Today, Veronica Dragalin submitted a request for resignation from the position of chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), informs TRIBUNA.
In a video address to citizens and MPs, she said she was resigning in the hope that the Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Prosecutions (PACCO) law would not go ahead because it was an attack on the rule of law.
Veronica Dragalin said she has dedicated her work to upholding the rule of law and fighting corruption, and the foundation of the anti-corruption efforts she built is now under serious threat – the PACCO law.
In this context, she appealed to the deputies not to vote for this project. “The liquidation of the PA will have serious and dangerous implications for the rule of law and for the European path enshrined in the Constitution. This law is an attack on the fundamental values that our society values,” the head of the PA also said.
