The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has announced that the “Electoral Complaints” module is temporarily unavailable for the submission of complaints online. The measure follows recent cybersecurity incidents affecting the country’s public services and identified risks related to electronic authentication mechanisms, TRIBUNA reports.
In this context, the CEC has launched a review and update of the authentication mechanisms used within its information systems, including those integrated with the government electronic authentication service MPass. As a result, the online complaints submission module has been placed under maintenance until the necessary technical adjustments are completed.
The Commission emphasizes that the decision is purely preventive and is intended to reduce potential risks of unauthorized access, ensure the protection of personal data, and maintain an appropriate level of security for the CEC’s information infrastructure.
The protection of personal data, the security of information systems, and the continuity of electoral processes remain key priorities for the Central Electoral Commission.
The electoral authority will provide additional information once access to the information system has been restored.
