The leadership of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) parliamentary faction held a briefing at Parliament, announcing the first initiatives its MPs planned to propose.

These included the establishment of a special parliamentary oversight committee; a review of all parliamentary and government decisions, as well as draft laws through which political control had allegedly been established over the Constitutional Court, the Central Electoral Commission, the Prosecutor’s Office, the courts and other public institutions; and the adoption of a parliamentary declaration on the status of public institutions as captured institutions that were independent only formally, as well as the need to depoliticise state structures.

He claimed that prosecutors, allegedly acting under political direction, had created circumstances that prevented both him and his lawyers from reviewing all aspects of the case.
