Businessman Anatolie Golea Announces PORT MALL Expansion

After three years of continuous growth and strong performance, PORT MALL is expanding. The Republic of Moldova’s largest shopping center will add another 13,000 square meters of leasable space. Businessman Anatolie Golea made the official announcement at the mall’s third-anniversary gala, in the presence of trusted partners, bankers, and leading retail industry executives.

The expansion decision was driven by figures and performance indicators. Just three years after its grand opening, the mall is operating at full capacity, while growing demand for retail space has accelerated the launch of the new construction project.

“The PORT MALL community has long since grown beyond the boundaries of Chișinău, bringing together people from across the Republic of Moldova. We have seen a 40% increase in foot traffic compared to our first year of operations, alongside a 64% increase in sales at PORT MALL. Every square meter creates value. We no longer have any vacant space, and demand from brands that want to join us continues to grow,” Anatolie Golea stated before industry leaders.

Construction work is already visible on the right wing of the building, with the new area scheduled to open in 2027.

The expanded space will accommodate more national and international brands. Plans include a larger food court, a fitness center, new relaxation areas, and a conference and events center. Visitors will also enjoy an additional panoramic terrace showcasing the surrounding views.

The plans do not end there. Two further expansion phases are planned, with their launch depending on demand for commercial space and market developments. The ultimate goal is to create a commercial complex featuring 100,000 square meters of leasable space, four office buildings, and a multilevel parking facility capable of accommodating 2,000 cars. The expansion will further strengthen PORT MALL’s position as a major urban landmark.

Currently, the Republic of Moldova’s largest shopping center hosts more than 100 national and international brands across 30,000 square meters of leasable space. PORT MALL also offers exclusive attractions, including the largest outdoor go-karting track, the country’s first 10D cinema, and the latest virtual reality (VR) technology.

PORT MALL officially opened its doors to visitors on October 21, 2023.
