Igor Dodon, President of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), attended the official opening of China’s International Conference on Sister Cities, alongside Zhang Qingwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress; Yang Wanming, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; and representatives of the leadership of Shaanxi Province, TRIBUNA reports.
The event is being held under the theme “Strengthening Cooperation Between Sister Cities for Joint Urban Development.” More than 700 delegates from over 60 countries are participating in the conference.
“For us, this is an opportunity to establish new contacts with representatives of local public authorities from different countries, exchange experience, and strengthen international cooperation.
PSRM representatives at the local level have already signed bilateral agreements with dozens of cities and regions in various countries, including several cities in China. We intend to expand this network of partnerships to attract new development opportunities for our local communities.
I would like to remind everyone that PSRM representatives currently lead 12 cities that serve as district administrative centers, placing the party first according to this criterion following the 2023 local elections. The party also leads more than 150 village mayoralties, ranking second in this category.
We have already begun preparations for the 2027 local elections, and our goal is to strengthen and improve the party’s position across the country following the vote,” Igor Dodon stated.
