Mihai Popșoi: Moldova’s reintegration process is advancing, with peace and stability remaining priorities

Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi met with the ambassadors of Germany, France and Poland to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), who gathered in Chisinau as part of the Weimar Format, TRIBUNA reports.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed various aspects of the OSCE’s activities, focusing on cooperation in regional and international security. Discussions also addressed the current stage of the Transnistrian settlement process, with particular attention given to the precarious state of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the eastern districts of the country.

Minister Mihai Popșoi emphasised that the authorities in Chisinau remain firmly committed to resolving the Transnistrian conflict exclusively through peaceful means, using political and diplomatic channels and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognised borders.

“Moldova’s reintegration is a process that is moving forward, and our priority is to maintain peace and stability so that we can continue this process in a lasting and sustainable manner. It is essential to strengthen state institutions and ensure that they serve the interests of all citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” Mihai Popșoi stated.

The minister also praised the contribution of the OSCE Mission to Moldova in facilitating dialogue, monitoring the security situation and promoting respect for human rights. He highlighted the importance of the organisation’s continued active involvement in the Transnistrian settlement process.

For their part, the ambassadors of Germany, France and Poland reaffirmed their support for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its European integration path. They also welcomed the progress made in the country’s accession process to the European Union.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the officials reaffirmed the OSCE’s important role in maintaining security, promoting political and security dialogue, and strengthening democracy throughout the organisation’s area of responsibility.

They also agreed to continue cooperating towards shared objectives, including in preparation for the upcoming OSCE Ministerial Council meeting, scheduled to take place in Lugano, Switzerland, on 3–4 December 2026.
