Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov participated today in Brussels in the 10th meeting of the Republic of Moldova–European Union Association Council. The Moldovan delegation was led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan. During the meeting, Moldova’s progress in the negotiation process and the reforms implemented in areas such as justice, the economy, security, and energy were reviewed, while priorities for the coming period were also discussed, TRIBUNA reports.
European officials praised the efforts made by the country and the results achieved over the past year, and reaffirmed their support for the Republic of Moldova, including in the face of security challenges. The EU condemned the repeated violations of Moldova’s airspace by Russian drones and missiles.
An important outcome of the meeting was the European Commission’s announcement of a new €157 million tranche from the Growth Plan for Moldova, confirming the fulfillment of the country’s commitments and the delivery of the results set out in the Reform Agenda.
“We know very clearly what we need to do next and continue working intensively with the teams involved in the negotiation process to prepare the country as well as possible for accession to the European Union,” Cristina Gherasimov said.
