Strengthening economic cooperation, attracting US investment into Moldova’s economy and developing joint projects in areas of mutual interest were the main topics discussed by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and the new United States Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Joseph Mark Burkhalter, TRIBUNA reports.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the relationship between Moldova and the United States and emphasized the government’s interest in developing this partnership through concrete projects that would benefit both countries. In this context, the parties discussed investment opportunities in logistics, agriculture, road and railway infrastructure, as well as other sectors with development potential.

“Moldova can be a very good destination for US investment. Even though we are a small market, we can be faster and more agile in providing an environment where companies can invest and subsequently serve larger markets. In this regard, we are determined to reduce bureaucracy and create attractive conditions for investors,” Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said.

The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to US companies to invest in the Republic of Moldova and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the country. The head of government emphasized that the goal is to attract investments that create jobs and added value in Moldova while also providing US companies with new opportunities for growth.

The Prime Minister also said that Moldova seeks a strong transatlantic relationship and cooperation focused on practical results. He noted that Moldova’s decision to reduce tariffs on imports from the United States to zero demonstrates its openness to deepening bilateral economic relations.

Energy cooperation was another topic discussed. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan expressed Moldova’s interest in importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States and in the possibility of concluding long-term contracts.

The parties agreed to continue the dialogue in order to identify concrete projects and new opportunities for economic, investment and energy cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United States.
