Officers from the Economic Crime Investigation Directorate of the National Inspectorate of Investigations, together with police officers from BPDS “Fulger” and PCCOCS prosecutors, documented a complex case involving money laundering, cryptocurrency conversion and illegal financing of political activities. The case concerned a 39-year-old man, Gabriel Călin, president of the “Christian Social Union of Moldova” Party, who was suspected of managing transactions through an international platform known for facilitating the conversion of Russian rubles into other currencies in order to circumvent international sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation following its military invasion of Ukraine. He was detained for 72 hours, while another person affiliated with him was also targeted.

Police Announcement

In connection with the protest held on September 29 in front of Parliament, the police announced that during the demonstration, 31 people, most of them from the Transnistrian region, were taken to the Centru and Buiucani police inspectorates for documentation. Following the measures taken, 24 reports were drawn up for “violating the rules on organizing and conducting public gatherings,” “hooliganism,” and “failure to fulfill obligations regarding the maintenance, upbringing and education of a child,” applicable to the legal representatives of minors.

Changes Announced by Ion Ceban

Ion Ceban, the mayor general of the capital, announced changes to his cabinet. Tatiana Oboroc took over as head of the mayor general’s cabinet, while Ludmila Corduneanu became responsible for public communications. Elena Panuș and Natalia Ixari were dismissed from their positions.

Andrei Năstase’s Clarifications

Andrei Năstase, an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections, rejected speculation that the observers he appointed had received substantial fees for their work. He said that none of his observers had been paid.

Viorica Puică’s Resignation

At its meeting, the Superior Council of Magistracy considered and accepted the resignation request submitted by Viorica Puică, a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice who had been seconded to serve as a judge of the Constitutional Court.

Statement by the Patriotic Electoral Bloc

The Patriotic Electoral Bloc issued a statement saying that, on September 28, 2025, Moldova held elections in which, according to the bloc, citizens’ will was undermined by interference from officials, abuse of administrative resources and multiple serious violations of the law. The political formation announced that it had filed around 45 complaints concerning various violations during the electoral process.

Prosecutor’s Office Announcement

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced that the Chișinău Court, Buiucani office, had granted prosecutors’ request to extend the pre-trial detention of former MP Vladimir Andronachi by another 30 days. He was involved in a criminal case concerning money laundering on a particularly large scale.

Verdict for Marina Tauber

The Chișinău Court, Buiucani office, found Marina Tauber guilty on four counts related to falsifying reports on the financing of an electoral campaign and a political party, as well as accepting illegal financing from an organized criminal group.

By partially aggregating the sentences, the court imposed a prison term of 7 years and 6 months, along with a five-year ban on holding public office and engaging in activities related to the accounting and financial organization of political parties. In addition, pre-trial detention was ordered for the purpose of enforcing the sentence, and she was declared wanted.

The court also ordered the special confiscation of more than 206 million lei that had been used or intended for the commission of the offense.

GDP Data

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization reported that Moldova’s gross domestic product increased by 1.1% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with the same period of the previous year, reaching 82.3 billion lei. Compared with the previous quarter (January–March 2025), GDP grew by 1.6%, confirming signs of economic recovery after a 1.4% increase recorded in the first quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of the previous year.

Renato Usatîi’s Statements

Renato Usatîi, chairman of “Our Party,” said during a live broadcast that all the projects discussed with citizens during the campaign would be implemented by December 15. He also announced the launch of an email address where citizens could report problems and submit complaints.

He once again thanked voters, his team, observers and supporters, assuring them that “Our Party” would be the voice of every citizen.

Decree Signed

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu signed a decree under which 15 pupils and students with outstanding results were to receive the President of the Republic of Moldova Scholarship during the 2025–2026 academic year. The distinction was awarded to young people who had demonstrated outstanding academic performance.

PNM’s Financial Calculations

The National Moldovan Party announced that it had officially closed its account following its first parliamentary campaign. In total, it spent 292,168 lei, which amounted to approximately 60 lei for each vote received. The PNM received 0.30% — 4,813 votes — in the parliamentary elections.

Tiraspol’s Accusations

The State Road Administration announced that repairs to bridges over the Dniester had slowed due to rain, but the work was expected to be completed by the end of October.

Meanwhile, the authorities in Tiraspol accused the Moldovan authorities of having “unblocked” the bridges the day after the elections and claimed that the repairs had been used as a pretext to prevent residents of the region from voting.
