President Maia Sandu today awarded Tomasz Kobzdej, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Moldova, the “Order of Honour” upon the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in the country. The distinction was presented in recognition of his contribution to strengthening bilateral political and economic relations, his support for the Republic of Moldova in promoting democratic reforms, and his backing for the country’s European path, TRIBUNA reports.

During his tenure, which began in April 2022, relations between the two countries deepened across all areas, including high-level political dialogue, security and defence, energy, European integration, development assistance, and the culture of historical remembrance. Economic cooperation also gained new momentum: the intergovernmental commission was relaunched after a 17-year hiatus, while cooperation between companies from the two countries intensified.

The head of state thanked the Ambassador for his engagement and for Poland’s consistent support, including during the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of last year. The discussion also covered the next stages of the European Union accession negotiations, in which the Republic of Moldova continues to count on support from Warsaw.
