Irina Vlah, leader of the Republican Party “Inima Moldovei,” said that, amid increases in gas, electricity, and heating tariffs, “thousands of people now have just one question: how will they survive the winter?”

The politician gave the example of a four-person family living in a two-room apartment measuring 50–55 square meters.

“During a winter month, such a family consumes approximately one gigacalorie for heating. Let’s assume they consume 200 kilowatt-hours of electricity, while trying to economize.

Now ANRE is being asked to increase the heating tariff by more than 80%. Electricity tariffs would double. Gas would rise to as much as 26 lei! Last season, families were paying up to 4,000 lei for utilities. Now they will have to pay up to 7,000 lei or even more! And on top of that, they have to buy food, medicines, clothes, and pay for school,” she said.

In this context, Irina Vlah addressed the authorities, asking what measures were being taken to support people.

“Tofan, Grosu, answer the people: what is your concrete action plan? Is paying 300 lei in compensation your plan? You urged people to pray for a mild winter. We would rather pray to rid Moldova of such incompetent governance,” the politician said.
