The NATO Director for Defence and Security Cooperation, Piers Cazalet, has concluded a productive two-day visit to the Republic of Moldova.

In Chisinau, Director Cazalet met with Moldovan officials, including Anatolie Nosatii, Minister of Defence, Valeriu Mija, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Alexandru Bejan, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Discussions focused on current cooperation priorities under the longstanding NATO–Moldova partnership and progress achieved in the implementation of the enhanced Defence Capacity Building package. Moreover, new opportunities to further support Moldova’s efforts to strengthen its resilience and modernise defense and security sector in the context of current regional security challenges were reviewed.

Director Cazalet reiterated the Alliance’s commitment to deepening its cooperation with the Republic of Moldova, tailored to the country’s and its citizens’ needs, with full respect for Moldova’s constitutional neutrality, and in line with the Moldova – NATO Individually Tailored Partnership Programme.
