Nicolae Timofti’s Appeal

Former President of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Timofti issued a public appeal to citizens, urging them to support the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) in the September 28 elections.

Searches in an Electoral Corruption Case

The National Anticorruption Center and prosecutors in the municipality of Bălți carried out more than 30 searches as part of an investigation into serious acts involving illegal financing of political parties, money laundering, and electoral corruption under aggravating circumstances. One person was detained for 72 hours.

PLDM Statement

In a statement, the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) “strongly condemned the ease with which President Maia Sandu treated the notion of popular sovereignty, attempting to politically exploit this fundamental concept in order to manipulate the electorate in favor of the Party of Action and Solidarity.”

Message from Marta Kos

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said in a video address that, in just over a year, the Republic of Moldova had completed the process of assessing the degree to which its legislation was aligned with European legislation. Thus, she said, Moldova had demonstrated that it was determined to join the EU and ready for the next stage of the integration process.

Sentence for Illegal Financing

The Chișinău Court, Buiucani seat, found a man guilty of illegally financing the “Șansa” Party. The court sentenced him to five years in a semi-closed penitentiary. The financial assets, amounting to approximately 5.2 million lei, were held by the State Tax Service.

Public Services Agency Announcement

The Public Services Agency (ASP) announced that on Sunday, September 28, 2025, election day, its territorial subdivisions would operate according to a special schedule, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and would issue temporary documents to enable voters to cast their ballots.

Mariana Barașianț’s Press Conference

The “Alternativa” Electoral Bloc presented its program for the justice sector. During a press conference, Mariana Barașianț, a candidate for Parliament, said that the justice system was “a prisoner of power struggles, marked by endless proceedings, decisions made to order, and institutions in conflict.”

“Alternativa” Bloc Appeal

The “Alternativa” Electoral Bloc submitted an official appeal to the headquarters of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), calling for fair and transparent public debates. On the same day, the Bloc published video footage showing a police officer tearing down the Bloc’s posters from a banner at night and accused the government of using state resources in the political struggle.

CEC Denounces False Information

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) denounced another piece of false information circulating online, which incorrectly claimed that voters who had opted for postal voting had received ballots from which some electoral contestants were missing.

CEC Decisions

The Central Electoral Commission imposed a warning on the electoral contestants “Democracy at Home” Party (PDA) and the “Alliance for the Union of Romanians” Party (AUR). The decision followed the examination of a notification from the Intelligence and Security Service stating that two people who were members of AUR and members of the party’s central governing bodies appeared on the PDA candidate list.

In this context, the CEC removed the respective individuals from the PDA candidate list and ordered the electoral contestant to remedy, within 24 hours, the deficiencies related to compliance with the mandatory gender quota requirements, with the possibility of cancellation of its registration.

The CEC also examined and rejected a request from “Date Inteligente” SRL to authorize an exit poll on the day of the September 28, 2025 parliamentary elections, while also accrediting several observers. The CEC further announced that authorized opinion poll results could be made public no later than two days before election day, namely September 25, 2025.

AUR Announcement

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) Party of the Republic of Moldova announced the continuation of its “Diaspora Supports AUR” campaign, through which Moldovan citizens living abroad sent messages of support for the reunification project.

Denis Roșca’s Proposal

The “Moldovans” Alliance proposed changing the approach to public finance management in Moldova. The party’s president, economist Denis Roșca, presented a draft law on decentralizing the tax system and redistributing funds in favor of local communities.

Officials at the Presidency

Following the completion of the screening process — the assessment of the conformity of national legislation with European legislation — President Maia Sandu received at the Presidency the public officials who had contributed to the successful completion of this decisive step on Moldova’s path toward European integration.

Opinions on Negotiating Positions

Members of the Parliament’s Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee approved advisory opinions on draft Negotiating Positions for three clusters. The Negotiating Positions for Cluster 3, “Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth,” Cluster 4, “Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity,” and Cluster 5, “Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion,” were discussed.

Vitalie Dragancea’s Book

Vitalie Dragancea, a communications expert and former adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, launched his first book, Lost Between Realities and Illusions. The event, hosted by the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, was attended by academics, economists, businesspeople, communications professionals, journalists, and students.

Andrei Năstase’s Letter

Andrei Năstase, an independent candidate for Parliament, sent an official letter to United States President Donald Trump requesting an adjustment of the trade tariffs applied to the Republic of Moldova so that they would be aligned with those applied to the European Union.

PN Campaign Video

The “Our Party” (PN) published a video presenting “only some of Renato Usatîi’s achievements as mayor of the municipality of Bălți.”

Searches in Iași

“Moldova Mare” Party leader Victoria Furtună was reportedly targeted in searches carried out by authorities in Iași. Police conducted 23 searches and verified the identities of 30 people to check the legality of residence permits held by citizens of Moldova, Ukraine, and Russia. Victoria Furtună denied that she or people close to her were involved in such actions.

European Commission Announcement

The European Union and the Republic of Moldova agreed to extend the validity of the Agreement on Road Transport until March 31, 2027, the European Commission announced. The agreement supported Moldova’s access to global markets by facilitating transit through EU member states and strengthening trade links with the European market.
