Submission of Documents for the Position of Bashkan of Gagauzia Begins Tomorrow

The Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia has determined the place and schedule for receiving documents for the registration of candidates for the position of Head (Bashkan) of Gagauzia in the elections scheduled for November 15, 2026.

The period for submitting registration documents begins on Monday, September 21, 2026, and ends on October 6, 2026.

Applications for the issuance of signature sheets to independent candidates, applications and documents for the registration of initiative groups, as well as applications and documents for the registration of electoral contestants, will be received by the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia at the following address: 36 Tretyakov Street, Comrat municipality, City Hall building, ground floor (Gagauzia Tourist Information Center), according to the following schedule:

From September 21 to October 5, 2026 — Monday through Friday, from 10:00 to 16:00, with a break from 12:00 to 13:00;

October 6, 2026, the final day for submitting documents — from 09:00 to 17:00, with a break from 12:00 to 13:00.

In addition, a commission was established to organize and conduct the drawing of lots to determine the order in which documents will be received. If two or more applicants submit their registration documents on the same day, a drawing of lots will be held at 17:00 that day to determine the order in which the electoral contestants will appear on the ballot paper.

The specific requirements for the nomination and registration of candidates for the position of Head (Bashkan) of Gagauzia are set out in the Regulation on the Nomination and Registration of Candidates in the Election for the Position of Head (Bashkan) of Gagauzia of November 15, 2026, approved by Central Electoral Commission Decision No. 4730/2026.
