Prime Minister Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations with His Greek Counterpart

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The officials discussed strengthening bilateral relations, the Republic of Moldova’s European path, and expanding economic cooperation, TRIBUNA reports.

The head of the Government in Chisinau presented the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the EU accession process and emphasized the authorities’ objective of maintaining a sustained pace in the negotiations, including by opening the remaining clusters.

Energy cooperation was an important topic of the conversation. The two officials discussed strengthening the Republic of Moldova’s energy security, diversifying supply sources and routes, as well as making use of regional energy infrastructure and projects.

The two prime ministers noted the potential for developing economic relations and the growing interest of Greek companies in the Republic of Moldova, particularly in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transport and logistics. In March, the Republic of Moldova hosted the largest Greek economic mission to date, with the participation of more than 60 business representatives.

The prime ministers agreed to maintain an active dialogue and expand contacts between institutions and business communities in the two countries so that existing opportunities can be translated into new projects and investments.
