President Maia Sandu took part, on 12 September, in the 5th edition of the Moldova Youth Forum, where she discussed with young people about resilience, democracy, freedom, and community, TRIBUNA reports.

The politician said that, lately, we speak more and more often about resilience, and it is important to have serious discussions with young people on this topic. Resilience is not an abstract concept, but our ability to cope with difficult, even extreme situations — to know how we get informed, how we prepare, and how we act in a world that is becoming increasingly uncertain.

“We talked about resilience in the context of two major challenges facing humanity: climate change and Artificial Intelligence. Climate change affects Moldova mainly through drought and water scarcity. I encouraged young people to contribute to environmental projects in their communities.

Young people seemed less concerned about the growing role of technologies in our lives. We agreed, however, that it is important to limit the exposure of our personal data, not let algorithms decide for us, and use AI as a helper, not as a replacement for our intellectual effort.

We also discussed the importance of valuing our democracy. We can be resilient and preserve our freedom only if we work together and stay active in our communities, without isolating ourselves in the online world,” the head of state noted.
