The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) held an information and dialogue session in Comrat on the organization and conduct of the elections for deputies to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia and the election for the position of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia, scheduled for November 15, 2026.

The event was attended by representatives of political parties, potential candidates, representatives of local public authorities in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, public institutions involved in the electoral process, as well as other stakeholders involved in preparing and conducting the elections.

The session provided a platform for direct communication between the electoral authority and participants in the electoral process. Discussions focused on the main stages, deadlines and procedures related to the November 15, 2026 elections, as well as the responsibilities of authorities, institutions and electoral contestants.

CEC Chairwoman Angelica Caraman and CEC Vice-Chairman Pavel Postica presented the electoral calendar for organizing and conducting the regional elections on November 15, 2026, highlighting the main electoral actions and deadlines.

The officials also explained practical aspects concerning the establishment and operation of electoral bodies, the nomination and registration of candidates, campaign financing, voter information and other procedures relevant to the organization of the two elections.

A separate part of the event was dedicated to public consultations on draft regulations required for organizing and conducting the regional elections. The consultations focused in particular on procedures for nominating and registering candidates for the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia and for the position of Governor (Bashkan).

Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and request clarifications on legal, procedural and organizational matters. The discussions also aimed to identify and address potential difficulties in advance, allowing all institutions and individuals involved to carry out their responsibilities in accordance with electoral legislation.

Through the information session and public consultations, the CEC aims to ensure a transparent and participatory process for preparing the elections, provide electoral stakeholders with consistent and accurate information, and promote effective cooperation between the electoral authority, public authorities and electoral contestants.
