Clarification from the Embassy in Ireland

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ireland issued official clarifications following a complaint filed with the Central Electoral Commission by the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart of Moldova and Future of Moldova. The complaint concerned a video post published on the Embassy’s official Facebook page on August 31, which contained the PAS logo. The Embassy announced that it had been “a technical error.”

Arrest of Alexandru Balan

Alexandru Balan, former deputy head of Moldova’s Intelligence and Security Service, charged with treason, was placed under preventive arrest for 30 days by a decision of the Bucharest Court of Appeal.

Alternative Bloc’s Request

The Alternative Bloc called for the publication of contracts for the purchase of gas needed by the country for the new cold season. The request came after Energocom announced that it had replenished winter gas stocks to 90%.

PNM Announcement

The National Moldovan Party (PNM) officially announced that it would not participate in any electoral debate organized in Russian. The party emphasized that it would accept invitations exclusively to debates held in Romanian, “the official language of the state.”

European Parliament Resolution

The European Parliament adopted a resolution supporting the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. The document was approved by an absolute majority.

Maia Sandu’s Visit to Rome

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu was in Rome, where she met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Senate President Ignazio La Russa. The discussions focused on strengthening the partnership between Moldova and Italy in the areas of the economy, development and security, as well as cooperation in support of peace and stability in Europe.

Patriotic Bloc Conference

Candidates for the position of MP from the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart of Moldova and Future of Moldova (PEB) presented the economic component of their electoral program, “Advanced Economy,” during a briefing. PSRM honorary president Zinaida Greceanîi introduced the main authors of the economic section: Petru Burduja, Tatiana Cunețchi, Radu Mudreac, Alexandr Baicev, Lilia Cazacu and Valeriu Muduc.

Andrei Năstase’s Proposals for the Diaspora

Independent parliamentary candidate Andrei Năstase presented his proposals for the diaspora, stressing that Moldovans living abroad could no longer be treated simply as an electoral campaign topic, but as genuine partners in the country’s development. During an online meeting with representatives of the Moldovan diaspora, Andrei Năstase outlined the priorities of his program.

AUR Campaign

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) in the Republic of Moldova announced the launch of the “Diaspora Supports AUR” campaign, an initiative through which the voices of Moldovan citizens living abroad would be heard in the public sphere through video messages.

Renato Usatîi’s Announcement

Renato Usatîi, president of Our Party, publicly announced the exclusion of a candidate from the party’s electoral list after information emerged that the person had participated in the 2023 local elections on the list of a political party that was subsequently declared illegal.

CUB Campaign Video

The Coalition for Unity and Welfare (CUB) launched its official campaign video for the parliamentary elections, presenting solutions proposed by a team of professionals united under the slogan “Faith, Unity and Welfare.”

NBS Data

Data published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed that consumer prices in August 2025 decreased slightly compared with July, falling by 0.4% month-on-month.

Alliance “Moldoveni” Initiatives

The Alliance “Moldoveni” presented a bill providing for the launch of a National Online Inventory System for Stocks and the creation of a Strategic Investment Assistance Fund. The two initiatives were intended to make formal employment more profitable, so that the honest payment of taxes would automatically provide access to additional investment funds.

CEC Announcement

The Central Electoral Commission announced that it had prepared informational materials for voters translated into five languages of ethnic minorities in the Republic of Moldova: Russian, Ukrainian, Gagauz, Bulgarian and Romani. The initiative was part of an information campaign conducted in the context of the parliamentary elections.

CEC Meeting

The Central Electoral Commission accredited observers, amended two of its decisions and confirmed a treasurer. The CEC also amended its decision concerning the implementation of the ruling of the Central Court of Appeal of August 26, 2025, which had registered the list of candidates from the “Greater Moldova” Party.

Socialists’ Meetings

Igor Dodon, president of the Party of Socialists and one of the leaders of the Patriotic Bloc, held electoral meetings in Strășeni district and with employees of the Baslift enterprise in the capital. Meanwhile, Patriotic Electoral Bloc candidate Vlad Batrîncea, together with Alexandr Odințov, deputy chairman of the PSRM faction in the Chișinău Municipal Council, met with employees of the Carmez and JLC enterprises.

Socialists’ Motion of No Confidence

Communist and Socialist Bloc MPs Alla Darovannaia and Vladimir Odnostalco went to Parliament to register a motion of no confidence against the policies of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in the area of public communication. The initiative followed Minister Alexei Buzu’s offensive remarks about citizens who did not support PAS.

Commission for Emergency Situations Meeting

The Commission for Emergency Situations, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, approved the allocation of 100 million lei from the Government’s intervention fund to support farmers.

BUN Program

The Unirea Națiunii (BUN) electoral bloc announced the main points of its electoral program, reaffirming its firm vision: “The Republic of Moldova — the second Romanian state.”

NOI Party Conference

The “New Historical Option” (NOI) Party proposed, during a press conference, the approval and implementation of a National Economic Stabilization and Recovery Program developed by the party’s experts.

Ion Ceban’s Statements

Ion Ceban, the suspended mayor of the capital and one of the leaders of the Alternative Bloc, denounced what he described as pressure from the authorities against his colleagues. He said they were being summoned to the State Tax Service to explain “where they donated 500, 1,000 or 1,500 lei for electoral activities.”

Government Announcement

The Government announced that, in connection with the detention of the former deputy head of Moldova’s special services, the Intelligence and Security Service had issued an official communication confirming a joint investigation involving partners from Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.

Alternative Bloc Conference

The Alternative Electoral Bloc launched its social program for Moldova, presented by parliamentary candidate Tatiana Oboroc. During a press conference, she emphasized the need to build a state that would take care of its people.

Protest at the General Inspectorate of Police

Activists from the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” held a protest outside the headquarters of the General Inspectorate of Police (GIP). They called for the resignation of GIP head Viorel Cernăuțeanu, claiming that instead of fighting crime, he was carrying out PAS’s political orders to persecute “Heart of Moldova.”

MRM Announcement

The Respect Moldova Movement (MRM) announced that Nicolae Molozea had joined the party. He was a Ștefan Vodă district councilor, former member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and former president of Ștefan Vodă district.

MFA Announcement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova announced that an employee of the Embassy of Belarus in Chișinău had been declared persona non grata and was to leave the country in accordance with international diplomatic procedures.

Interior Minister’s Announcement

Following a Government meeting, Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin announced that former Democratic Party leader Vlad Plahotniuc was expected to be brought to the Republic of Moldova from Greece on September 25, 2025.
