Prime Minister Vasile Tofan met with Christopher Smith, the new Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. The discussions focused on the OSCE’s role in supporting a peaceful and sustainable settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, Moldova’s European path, and the security situation in the region, reports TRIBUNA.
The Prime Minister reiterated Moldova’s firm commitment to resolving the conflict exclusively through peaceful means, while respecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
Vasile Tofan emphasized that the Government’s objective is to gradually bring the two banks of the Dniester closer together through concrete measures aimed at improving people’s lives, building trust, and contributing to the country’s economic and social integration. Moldova’s European path represents an opportunity for all citizens, including residents of the Transnistrian region.
The Prime Minister praised the OSCE’s contribution to maintaining dialogue and building confidence between the two banks, calling for continued pragmatic, results-oriented cooperation adapted to the new realities.
