Irina Vlah, leader of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova,” said that at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, at least three senior officials from the Government of the Republic of Moldova made statements indicating that the authorities had a plan to resolve the Transnistrian issue, which they were discussing with European partners. Moreover, at one point it was stated that the plan could be implemented in the autumn of this year, potentially paving the way for a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. The politician has therefore addressed several questions to the country’s leadership, reports TRIBUNA.

She recalled that following the publication of this information, she issued a public appeal to the leadership of the Republic of Moldova, requesting that the plan be made public, arguing that the Transnistrian settlement is an issue of major public interest and therefore cannot be kept from citizens.

“I also raised a number of specific questions, such as: Who are the foreign partners with whom this plan is being discussed? To what extent have representatives of Tiraspol participated in discussions regarding the plan? Will the solution identified for the Transnistrian issue be put to a nationwide referendum? Will the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova be amended as a result of implementing the proposed plan, or will action be taken within the framework of the current Constitution? And so on,” the politician said.

Irina Vlah noted that, unfortunately, the authorities have still not answered the questions mentioned above, even though many citizens of the Republic of Moldova are awaiting those answers.

“Under these circumstances, I am putting forward several more questions:

Dear leadership of the Republic of Moldova, do the previous statements about the existence of a plan to resolve the Transnistrian issue still stand?

Do the statements about the possibility of resolving the Transnistrian issue this autumn still stand?

Why, then, have you still not made this plan public, given that it concerns all citizens of the Republic of Moldova? Do you intend to make it public at all? If so, when exactly?

Have you held any discussions with the administration in Tiraspol regarding the settlement of the Transnistrian issue on the basis of the aforementioned plan?

Who, after all, are the foreign partners with whom you are discussing this plan, and to what extent are you counting on their support should it be implemented?” Irina Vlah further stated.
